skies but temperatures are dropping. you can see already in the lower 50s. santa rosa and napa around 53 to 55. temperatures from this afternoon. they range from the right around the lower 60s coast side warmest locations inland. and the mid- to upper 70s. remember just last tuesday we had those readings in the upper 90s to over 100 degrees. the cooler temperatures are here to stay with no major heat in the forecast. for tonight we do have this, mostly clear skies, a bit of a breeze out there. tomorrow some morning cloud cover, it'll be mostly sunny. wednesday we do bring in a chance of a few showers between now and sunrise. as temperatures drop off overnight in the inland valleys especially up in the north bay. fog will be forming so visibilities could be coming down once again about a half mile out toward santa rosa, napa and san helena. here's a look at the projected numbers, pretty chilly when you wake up you can see 40s for santa rosa, napa 63 degrees. with at least party cloudy skies and patchy dense fog out there. not much change for tomorrow. there's a weather system in the pacif

satellite and radar image. you see the clouds will begin to build in to the santa rosa area in the overnight hours. we have the offshore flow continuing for the most part. what's happening is we have an area of low pressure and it's just mixing up that marine layer along the immediate seashore. what does that mean for that right there the hardly strictly bluegrass at golden gate park? 61 degrees were a combination of sun and clouds. now, tomorrow meanwhile temperatures are going down in comparison to today because we have the influx of that cloud cover from the trough that's just lurking offshore. 50s at the beaches, 60s across the bay, 70s los altos, 74 degrees in morgan hill and upper 60s in fremont, union city and milpitas. these are some of the warmest temperatures east of the bay inland. 75 degrees in brentwood five degrees below normal for this time of the year. 72 degrees in dublin. and the winds will be relatively flat until late day beginning to pick up out of the west 10 to 20. low 70s in santa rosa for a high and 60 in san fran

things off a little more so with clear skies and santa rosa, 54. the fog says off the coast. 48 the expected low. high pressure will be with us, very strong for one more day. the high pressure is bringing us the sinking air, and also the rotation around the high is bringing us the offshore -- the warm offshore winds. that's why we are heating up so rapidly. the heat hangs on for one more day, especially inland, and then all of this will back off and a cooler air mass by midweek. the highs for tomorrow, compared to the records for tomorrow, probably not going to see a lot of records because most of them are well, well high, but livermore we could possibly top off with a record. looking for a high of 101the re. the record is 102. in san jose, the high 94 and the record is 97. so maybe just a few records tomorrow. otherwise look for temperatures to be cooling. the air quality is improving in the north bay and the south bay. moderate rain is good near the coast. but we will still be in the poor levels. inland east bay and the santa clara valley, probably the last one for the week. h

letters into them for years. rosa started noticing something strange a couple of months ago. >> i think somebody tried to get the mail from the box. and it's a headache because we have to go like maybe every two days to the post office and get our mail. every day. >> reporter: neighbors say they came to the front panel and didn't think there was a problem. but when they stepped to the back side of the mailboxes, they knew they were in trouble. we discovered three different community mailboxes that had been vandalized. that means at least 36 residents have to make that trip to the post office to get their mail. this man says he needs this resolved quickly. he hasn't received his pg&e bill and worries about late fees. we spoke with the property manager who says she doesn't know who's responsible to replace the mailboxes. the owners, the renters, or the post office. the post office did not return our calls today. now rosa says she worries about identity fraud. >> yes. of course i worry about it. >> reporter: in san jose, damian trujillo, nbc bay area news. >>> the bay area's new catholic a

our mount tam cam this morning. 44 ride out the door in santa rosa. 53 in oakland. it looks like antioch slowly but surely climbing are coming in at 60 degrees there. now futurecast 4 does have a story to tell you to lunch time you could see of the screen on the screen does indicate where lucille ra wide range--by 3:00 p.m. will start to see low seventies for livermore valley and parts of the south bay as well. los '70s at best 71 expected for evergreen. sunny skies will prevail los '70s were livermore antioch 63 in san leandro and looks like union city coming in at 67 degrees. as we turn our attention to the north bay upper 60s for nevada on petaluma off. check out downtown san francisco at 63 degrees. and expect a fair amount of clouds to the conditions so certainly bring a jacket of a '50s at best a heading to ocean beach. we do have changes on the horizon take a live look at satellite and radar we to have a low pressure system again hundreds of miles off the california coastline. when it does approach we could see some spotty showers san francisco, pretty much everywhere sout

and the forecast. los '60s through oakland in concord santa rosa is in the low 50s currently. there is a mix of '50s and '60s and then about noontime will see widespread '60s indicated by the cream color on your screen. we--green and through the evening it will be dropping to the '50s. lots of sunshine and plenty comfortable conditions. they're looking at mid '70s through concord at danville and pleasanton. mid-60's for downtown san francisco and 60 degrees for ocean beach. upper 60s and low '70's throughout the north bay. >>, said county health officials say more birds have tested positive for the west nile virus. six shares including a chicken was found in concord pleasant day and walnut creek. the chicken was part of flock in oakland. they say the heat wave caused the disease to spread more rapidly. people need to take more preventive measures to keep from being bitten by mosquitoes. also report dead birds because that is the first sign of west nile in a particular location. >> honda is expanding at its recall adding 20036 and pilot suvs. the 2002 through for model years for six and the pilot. t

in the north bay. 47 degrees in santa rosa. 46 in novato and 56 starting out nice and comfortable in the city by the bay. all the action is happening for the bay's big weekend. taking you down south and 54 degrees this morning in sunnyvale. here's where it gets interesting. we have an area of low pressure. it's just offshore. look at the showers. very close in the bay area, but it doesn't lock like they are going to push in. we stopped the clock for ow the futurecast. look at this. almost completely clear conditions over san francisco. palo alto. m marine layer out in the pacific. i am concerned about the fog becoming a problem for the blue angels. we stop the clock for you at 5:00 a.m. also adding the chance for showers late or tomorrow. so your best bet is going to be today if you are going to hit the action. it works out like this. 69 degrees in san francisco and 70 in san jose. around 75 degrees out in livermore. you will be comfortable in santa cruz at 67. i think all the action will be pointed right at san francisco. one of the reasons why, our own giants and nbc bay area is the proud h

. low 50s already in santa rosa. mid-40s by tomorrow morning. 59 san jose. 58 in san francisco. and a little bit of a sea breeze still out there around fairfield. the on shore winds picked up today. you may have noticed the plu angels. we had blow clouds west of the golden gate. that was a staple of the afternoon along with cooler temperatures. san francisco a high of 60 degrees. tonight we will see patches of low clouds returning. maybe mist in a few spots tomorrow morning along the does. our afternoon tomorrow a is cooler as more clouds spill in. here the change. not only cooler temperatures but maybe a chance of seeing a few showers especially in the south bay and the santa cruz mountains. the satellite-radar view shows the same area of low pressure off shore waited if the weekend to finish. it will bring in a chance of showers midweek and thursday and friday it shifts in to southern california and showers moving with it well to the south of santa cruz by the end of the week tomorrow, partly cloudy skies. not a lot in the way of showers except up to lake county and northern

officially hit 70. and santa rosa you hit 102 three days ago. you hit only 68 degrees this afternoon. and you will drop down to 48 tonight. napa chilly upper 40s. san rafael 50. redwood city 53. and livermore 53 degrees your overnight low. so something has to be changing. believe it or not. the same area of low pressure now giving us the cool weather was the same one that was down off the southern california coast that counterclockwise flow giving us the offshore wedged. so all it did was move we felt got a different wind direction and you're feeling the change with morning cloud cover and lower temperatures. low pressure will be offshore on the weekend enhancing of the pacific ocean influence giving us even cooler weather and cloudier weather. then by the top of next week low pressure is going to be right over top of the bay area. that's going to give us a shower chance for the first widespread shower chance in a while coming up next monday and next tuesday. so what to expect? a lot of cloud cover each morning. you will get some afternoon sunshine. it will be cloudy to start. weekend will be

in santa rosa, novado, 72 degrees expected for napa. as we take a look at your kron 4 7 day around the bay that cooling will continue for this weekend. for the next workweek, we could see the chance of showers. 9:21. george? >> thank you, janu. we are finally seeing some improvements even at the san mateo bridge. this is not a bridge i would choose because the drive times are still over twice the normal 11 minutes. there has been accidents. there have been construction delays. it is backing up all the way to the 880/nimitz freeway all the way to the 101. however, some breaks and that. and also the east shore freeway toward a solid wall of traffic from pinole towards berkeley. for the westbound and also we still have slower than normal for the peninsula. look at this out of san bruno. south san francisco towards highway 84 the dumbarton bridge. you could possibly catch a break but it has been slow. there was an accident that has been backing up traffic early this morning and it is not been recovered. the south bay is also slow to recover the 101 northbound. it looks better towards santa cla
